This posting was not useful. Linked and found I needed to register/subscribe before seeing anything.

I have been using an ereader since 2003. I started with a Cybook from Brookeen which I really liked since I could use it beside my bed without a night-light and it automatically turned off after not being used for 5-10 minutes. I would not buy an ereader unless it had a back-light so it could be read in the dark. I now use an iPad since I believe it is the only ereader available with this feature. If a backlight is a required feature for you too, I guess the iPad is our only option for now.

I have a Sony Reader. I like it because it lets me easily checkout ebooks from my public library. The page numbers match the printed book page numbers. The battery life is great. It is small and fits in my purse. The iPad doesn’t have an eInk screen which is why I didn’t like it. The Kindle doesn’t let you get books from your public library which is why I didn’t like it.
