Bionic Ear with Headphones let you spy on the neighbors

by Ally

For those of you that enjoy listening to conversations at a safe distance, now you can have a gadget to help you out with that.  You can also watch intently through the built-in monocular.  Of course this could be used for things besides spying.  For nature lovers you could sit in the woods and watch a far off deer or listen to the birds.

The Bionic Ear can hear faint sounds from up to 20-30 meters away and then loud noises from up to 100 meters away.  The device can also record up to 12 seconds of sound at a time.  Then you can have those 12 seconds to listen to again and again.  You can even adjust the frequency to improve the clarity of sound.  The monocular offers 8x magnification.  You can purchase it for $39 through Chinavasion.

I have tried this thing and it is not a half of what i expected. The sounds it amplifies can actually be heard without it. But if you don’t hear it the thing doesn’t hear it. trust me. so it’s not like you can hear someone’s talking from a distance that otherwise you could only read their lips.

I’d like to buy this device as a birthday gift for my younger brother, but now fell confused with the comment above. Has anybody else used it? What do you think of it?
