Sony X-series Walkman

by Mark R

sonyxwalkman-sbWe have reported on an alphabetical series of Walkmen from Sony including the B-Series, the E-Series, and the S-Series. It would appear that the company is close to the end with the X-Series.

Actually, there doesn’t seem to be any order to the names of these Walkmen, but the X-Series has some very cool advancements. It features a built in Slacker Radio application that allows a user to fill the Walkman with music from a streaming radio. The user can choose up to 3 stations of music, and each station is cached on the device for free.

Streaming radio is accomplished through the use of its integrated Wi-Fi, and I’m told that it can even do YouTube. It can also read video files supported by WMV and MPEG-4 formats. The user can watch it on the 3-inch OLED touchscreen which has “high contrast and fast response rates”.

The X-Series also comes with integrated noise reduction technology that can reduce ambient sounds to block up to 98 percent of the outside noise. As for the battery, it is good for 33 hours of music or 9 hours of video.

The X-Series Walkman will ship on June 20th. It will come in a 16GB version for $299, and a 32GB for $399.
