Scantron rolls out next generation of desktop document scanners

Most of us have some sort of scanner at home at the very least, and there are varying levels for you to choose from depending on your needs. As for Scantron, they have just announced the new iNSIGHT 20, which is in essence, a compact, affordable desktop scanner that brings together document imaging technology with proven data collection capabilities and accuracy of optical mark recognition (OMR). Scantron has dug deep into its 50 years of expertise in engineering, forms design, worldwide applications development and customer support when it comes to developing this innovative scanner. iNSIGHT 20 is not your everyday home scanner though as this targets industrial use instead thanks to its special blend of capabilities, and is well poised to address a variety of applications including testing, surveys, attendance, patient encounter, grading, student portfolios, personnel records, archiving, and general back file conversions.

According to Mike Seeman, Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Scantron, “Scantron continues our commitment to offer our customers reliable and accurate scanning technologies. The new iNSIGHT 20 scanner offers our customers a reasonably priced and compact scanner that has the accuracy of OMR and the productivity and flexibility of document imaging.”

When it comes to data collection, the iNSIGHT 20 scanner is more than up to the task, capable of reading marks (such as bubbles, check marks, tick marks) and bar codes. The scanner will work in tandem with ScanTools Plus software (from Scantron, obviously), where it is also able to perform scans on grayscale images for digital storage. Unlike us humans who tend to skip the fine print whenever we’re dealing with official documents, the iNSIGHT 20 does its work diligently, even reading machine print and handprint using real-time character recognition software which can be purchased separately from Scantron. The iNSIGHT 20 does not shirk from handling sheets of multiple sizes and thicknesses in a single batch, ranging from small card stock to long printouts. Once you’re done scanning, you are able to select the format of the scanned image, resolution, file type, and destination with just a few clicks.
