Here’s Your Perfect Gift this Holiday: Paper Airplane Launcher

by Mark R

Some of you might be stumped as far as what to buy the fellow gadget lover this year, but I was fortunate enough to stumble upon something that is absolutely perfect: the Electric Paper Plane Launcher.

Some of you might remember making paper planes in order to pass the time in boring classes. Apparently, some designers at Middlesex University decided to take paper airplane design one step higher when they created this kit.

This device works with two spinning motors and plastic discs. The mechanism is similar to a Matchbox car launcher that I played with as a kid. It also had two spinning plastic discs that would grab hold of the car in order to launch it down at track at a very fast speed.

All a user needs to do is stick the paper plane in between these fast-rotating disks, and it can be launched in the air at speeds of 30 mph! That’s enough to really punch an eye out. You might want to think before you give this to a child.

The Electric Paper Plane Launcher requires a mere AA battery for power, and costs only $18.00. Is this the perfect gift or what? Best of all, it is available to order online, so you don’t have to deal with waiting in line.

Got this for part of a science project for middle school aged child, and had to do some DIY work on theblack discs to make it work right. They weren’t gripping the plane tight enough to spin it through…so we had to sort of realign the things they attach to. Also – plan on mounting this to a 2×4 or something that can be held onto….basic science – when it pushes the plane one way, the launcher is pushed back into your child’s face. They DO spin rather fast…
