A real electric scooter

Razor Sport Mod Electric Scooter
You’ve probably seen those wimpy electric scooters in stores. They say they can go up to 10-12 mph, but in reality it’s more like 8 mph and you still need to recharge it every hour or so. Technically, the thing you see to the left isn’t a scooter. To me, it’s more like a mini moped, but Razor calls it a scooter, so I’ll just go along with it. Anyway, if you’re going to get your kid an electric scooter, the Sport Mod by Razor is the one to get. It actually goes fast.

Don’t worry though, this is no gas scooter. Top speed is 15 mph, which means it’s probably in the 12 mph range. One charge gives you up to 10 miles. Unfortunately, that 10 miles assumes you’re going at 15 mph the whole time. In real life, expect about 40 minutes. Yea, it’s disappointing. . . The scooter’s 350 watt motor can handle riders up to 220 pounds, but if you want to go at a reasonable pace, I’d keep fat Uncle Larry off it. Control wise you have a little throttle lever to control your speed and a hand lever rear brake. There’s also 12″ tires, a kick stand, an uncomfortable looking seat. Unlike the Cruzin Cooler, this scooter has no storage space, and make sure not to run out of battery a few miles away from home because if that happens, you’ll be lugging 75 pounds of dead weight with you. And at $290 each, Razor’s Sport Mod electric scooter isn’t something you want to leave by the bike path for Mom to pick up.

Cool, but I wouldn’t buy these for my kids!

Great info for people buying electric scooters.
They are pretty safe and inexpensive. I have bought them grand kids. An overnight charge gives them a full day of scooter riding pleasure.

Again thank’s Mike is a great article 🙂

I just bought one of these from Target, on clearance for $100 AUD ($90 USD). It’s the Razor Pocket Mod Bella style, but I believe the internals are the same as in this review.

Well worth the money, as far as I’m concerned. My 10 year old daughter loves it, and I even rode it myself down to our local shops (10 min round trip). It struggled going up the inclines, but apart from that it was a lot of fun. If I could find another one for $100, I’d buy it in a second. 🙂

I brought this sport Mod scooter for my 12 year daughter she is now just turning 13 years old and the razor scooter looks pretty good, she rides it almost daily. Since i gotten our two other kids have also used this scooter that we are going to get them their own.
