The Electronic Notepad

I class myself as a technical sort of person (though some may argue with that) yet whenever I’m designing software or websites I always resort to pen and paper. This does mean I have A3 pads and flip charts all over the place and finding my original designs can be a real pain. Today I came across the Adesso CyberPad which seems to offer both the benefit of paper and digital storage at the same time.

The Adesso CyberPad consists of a pad to rest your A4 on and a special digital ink pen that writes like a normal pen. So you can doodle (sorry design) away on a piece of paper as normal. Nothing special here you might be thinking, well that’s where the magic happens. Not only is your work of art doodle on the physical page it is also being stored digitally on the CyberPad’s internal memory. So once you’ve finished your paper design you can upload an image of it via USB to your PC.

Once your paper image is on the PC you can use ICR technology to decode your handwriting (though the supplied package is not the strongest in that field) and manipulate and file it as you would any other image. I suppose it’s like scanning your handwritten document as you’re writing it. At the moment the maximum size is A4 which isn’t big enough for me but if/when an A3 version is released I’ll be sorely tempted. You get further information and buy online (US) from Adesso.

Very helpful review. Thanks. Just one question, what ICR technology would be the strongest?
Thank you.

I’m not that experienced in ICR technologies so can’t help you there I’m afraid.

it would be more valuable if it had storage capacity as well

I have a 16yr old cousin who hates carrying his books to school. He has been crying for an electronic notepad that he can use at all his lessons to take notes. I imagine the ability to save and file for reference would be paramount here
